Do you really need an expansion? There are already chariots and enough infantry types to represent these. It's a matter of researching the battles after that. |

Mmmm. Mobs of hairy guys with pointy sticks and killer BO. Divine intervention rules. My god can beat up your god. Main strategy: hole up in your national capitol fortress city and wait for the besiegers to go away. Mmmm. If you call it 'Bronze Age' I'll be more interested. |

yeah bronze age would be more appropriate, all that biblical "I smite thee" etc. is a little overplayed. besides, I am sick to death of the politicalization of the "born agains". |

I am sick to death of the politicalization Ah, no interest in the Crusades expansion, then? "I wanted to be Born Again. Mom said no." |

I've followed the discussion on various CCA boards over the years. My recollection is that there has been discussion of both biblical and Byzantine expansions. I've also heard the designer quoted as saying that the biblical era might not work with the current game engine. There was some chatter about both a Byzantine expansion and a Chinese Warring States version being in the hopper but no discussion of imminent releases. I wonder if GMT needs to pace itself, giving due consideration to the existing CCA expansions and the ongoing interest in CCN? I'd certainly be keen for a Byzantine CCA expansion. |

A problem is that very few LBA battles are well documented. You'd have to do a lot of creative guesswork on the scenarios. One of the charms of C&C A is the vast number of historical scenarios lifted from the classical authors. For LBA, you'd need two new infantry types: tribal militia and peasant militia. Basically, those hairy guys in diapers, with self bows (flint arrow points) or pointy sticks (also flint points) respectively. Not much discipline or motivation. They make up the bulk of your infantry. They're not nearly as useful as Classical lights. Some of your royal guard might qualify as Auxilia or even Medium Infantry, if very well armored. Then you need to beef up your chariots, so that their missile fire chews up the diaper infantry while their speed keeps them out of harms way. Big changes to the game. |

I wondered about "Egypt" and the various opponents they found (Hittites and whatnot). You have a decent mix of types (bow, med/heavy foot, chariots, skirmishers) which make for decent games in other systems. But I agree, the biblical stuff might be tactically uninteresting. Byzantine might be more doable, both in terms of documented battles and working within the existing system. Might also open up the crusades. |

While not related to the C&C:A system, those interested in this era might consider giving Richard Berg's (not Borg) "Chariots of Fire" boardgame from GMT Games a look. There are not very many games that focus on this era exclusively. |
