I've been hoping to get in a game of this somewhere to help me get a better understanding of how to play as I'd like to introduce it to my group. Sadly, I have not seen anything suggesting any events, cons, clubs are hosting regular DBMM games. I'd travel to Europe if necessary (as I live in U.S.) for a couple games with people who are not opposed to explaining the game and helping me through a few turns or the better part of a whole game! |

Sorry, I don't know anyone that plays DBMM. |

We're in Nashville and at least one of our members has some experience, though he is out for a bit. Have you played DBA – I would think it would be a fairly good intro to the game mechanics. |
Fotherington Thrip | 10 Dec 2015 3:19 p.m. PST |
Yes I agree with photocrinch that playing DBA would be an excellent intro. |

I'd even go so far as to suggest that BBDBA V3.0 is perhaps a better game than DBMM … |
Wealdmaster | 10 Dec 2015 3:49 p.m. PST |
I played DBA once or twice but was looking for something more. I did like DBA very much though. Nashville is not too far, maybe after the new year. BBDBA does not seem to offer many of the things such as command options or similar. |

Nope. BBDBA3 is a good game, but it isn't a better game than DBMM, just a different one. 'MM adds in a lot of variables and additional detail simply not included in DBA. BBDBA is the kind of game most players can pick up in 10 minutes, and not get too much wrong. 'MM you can pick up the basics in 15, but if you haven't played before, you will find all sorts of things you missed when you re-read the rules. Personally I play both. I find BBDBA an excellent game, but the depth of 'MM gives me a much more satisfying 'narrative' to the battle. Tastes obviously differ. |

I have played DBM and BBDBA…. There is not much of a DBMM community in my area. If you are looking for a little more grit than DBA you might try Art de la Guerre. |

No MM in my area either sorry, I think there was a bunch of guys New Jersey way but I think they just recently moved over to ADLG ( could be wrong on that last bit though ). |

@ wealdmaster you could have a look here for some information about DBMM tagmata.it |

Lorenzo, I appreciate your work at Tagmata. Would like to find some help in my country but I do frequent northern Italy a couple times each year. |

We have a strong DBMM group in the New Jersey, Philly, and NYC area. At this time there are 8 of us competing in an Ancient Biblical Chariots Army themed tournament. Please send me a message if you would like information. We have regular games during the week and monthly in several locations across New Jersey. |

Where do you reside in the USA? |
Drusilla1998 | 11 Dec 2015 7:17 a.m. PST |
In New Jersey, we actually play both DBMM and ADLG. DBA 3.0, has many similarities to DBMM, so that would be a good intr to DBMM. If youo can ever get to New Jeresey, just reach out to us. Lou |

Thanks Lou, I live in Iowa and maybe after first of the year I'd consider coming to any gathering you have in which DBMM might be played. |

If you are willing to travel to Europe to learn the game, why not invite a knowledgeable player to visit you for a week. Either from US or Europe. Pay airfare and put him up. Play everyday ! Teach the group too. |

We play DBM 3.2 in Oklahoma City if you ever want to come our way. Think it's about an 8 hour drive. We have 6-8 seasoned players. |

If you ever come for a holiday downunder, there are a few DBMMers in both Oz and New Zealand. John |

Do yourself a favor, play DBMM, as it offers so much more, then any other set of rules. You will be stunned at both the detail and the ease with which the battle flows. Of course, this will be after you really know the rules. I used to play DBM, for over 10 years and to me there was nothing even close to it. DBMM surpasses it in so many ways, all for the good, you would be amazed. Of course, this is IMHO……….. Lou |

Colorado Military Historians in Denver plays DBMM from time to time. There's a website that you should be able to find through Google that has meeting times and locations. |

Thanks all for so much help. I've had this feeling for so long that I need to learn DBMM as there was something brilliant there waiting for me. Often in life people don't recognize great things that took a lot of work and I can see that DBMM and the army lists took a lot of work I'll tell you…and stuff that takes a lot of work is often very good. In 15 years gaming I've played so many rules that don't work or are just rambling articles on gaming that have been fluffed up with fancy graphic art in the digital age. This thread could now go many directions but I'll say that most gamers I've known don't bother to take the time to truly learn any rules which is frustrating for me and they want to play in games with others telling them what to do or play very simple rules. Dbmm… okay they might be right and it might be difficult to learn as others in our group have said after they perused the rules, and yes written in dense prose, etc. Still, I'm normally the adventurer who goes off and does crazy stuff, can't help it I guess. |

Unlike Lou I would never tell anyone not to try something different, you never know until you try it. You could give DBM a try first before moving on, at least the DBM rules are available for free download on the WRG website I believe. You may also be amazed at how much easier DBM is with very intuitive rules compared to others in my books. At the club we tried MM but found it had, as others have said of these rules and their words not mine, too much chrome added on. But then again that is just my view. |

DBM 3.2, gosh that sounds a bit scary as where to find it? Didn't know so many versions existed. |
aynsley683 | 16 Dec 2015 7:12 a.m. PST |
Version .1 and .2 only have minor changes in there to clear a few things up, some point values changed and some language got cleared up. Basically the same as MM , not sure what version they are on now. The downloadable version has the original 3.0 then in red ( I think ) is th .1 bits added and the .2 bits in blue ( it may be the other way around). As I said not sure what version MM is on now but it isn't in print currently, some army list books are available in some places but even they have been redone apparently and awaiting printing as well. Apparently it's all at the printers, the first printer went bust or couldn't do it for some reason, with no release date even. |
