I see Amazon says they have copies for sale. Did this get published while I had my head in the sand? Or is Amazon jumping the gun? |

Not sure about how you are reading the Amazon site. When I read it it pretty clearly states: Price: $17.95 USD Deal Price: Pre-order Price Guarantee. Learn more. This title will be released on August 21, 2012. Pre-order now!
link I'm having trouble seeing what is not accurate about that or how one interprets that as a lie. |

I'm having trouble seeing what is not accurate about that or how one interprets that as a lie. Oh, everyone makes a mistake every now and then. @Vincent Have another cup of coffee and all will become clear. |

As much as I love Amazon, sometimes items that have been released (especially from overseas publishers), still show up on Amazon as not yet released. Take for instance, Neil Thomas' book on Nineteenth Century Europe Wargaming. That was released a week or so ago, yet Amazon's website (US version) states it won't be released until June. I contacted Amazon and they reiterated that it wouldn't be released until June. Meanwhile, Amazon UK is selling it now
.go figure. |

You mean read the entire thing? Next thing you'll be telling me to read the technical manual before starting to run the new software product

.go figure. yep. They are actually two different entities. There is usually a UK release and then a US release or vise versa depending on what country the publisher resides. I am still waiting for Henry Hyde's book. Released last November in the UK. Scheduled to be released here sometime this year. |

Yep, the Field of Glory stuff has a UK and then a later U.S. release. |

Amazon tends to move heaven and earth to get books from bog publishers out on their scheduled release date. Books from smaller publishers often get pushed back to the back of the line. Such is the nature of high volume internet retailers. So if you want the rules ASAP, order through Osprey. If you want to save a few denarii and don't mind waiting a fortnight, go with Amazon. |

Amazon's "enthusiasm" for promoting new publications prematurely is a bit of a bind. If Henry Hyde's magnus opus had been released in the UK last November it would have been a miracle as he's only just finished writing it and is finalising details with his publisher. Note his comments in this thread TMP link which I launched last week. |
