Please forgive me for posting this same information twice. After mentioning this on one of Dalauppror's topics, I realized it may be of value to some who, like me, are still intimidated by new technology.

My own purchase of the Dux Bellorum rules is in the Kindle Fire format. Being a bit dim-witted, I was dismayed at first to find the game charts and statistics broken up awkwardly on the screen. However, it finally occurred to me that I could simply shrink the viewing font.

Once the font is reduced to the smallest size, the charts appear in their entirety, and viewing them is not a problem. For those who want to experiment with using a Kindle for keeping a rules set, Dux Bellorum works very well. I have no regrets about purchasing this format.

And it is currently only $10.60 USD or so in kindle format. At that price you really can't go wrong.

I've taken a real liking to rules on my kindle, especially tablet optimized rules like IABSM which allows me to leverage the search and hyperlink capability. Does the Dux Bellorum edition provide any expended functionality in that manner?

Wulfgar22 Aug 2012 7:51 p.m. PST

I think I know the sort of format you're talking about, BCantwell. I have a recent book about Japan that has numerous hyperlinks.
As for Dux Bellorum, it doesn't utilize a hyperlink capability. Its a pretty good idea, though.
May I ask which rules IABSM refers to?

Wulfgar,
IABSM stands for "I Ain't Beeen Shot Mum!" a company sized WWII rules set from Too Fat Lardies.

Thanks, Iron Marshall. The Lardies seem pretty far-sighted in their publishing practices.

I have a Barnes&Noble Nook reader, not a Kindle or iPad. Will the TFL or Osprey reader formats for DuxBrit or DuxBella work on a Nook?

lapatrie88,
I did a quick check on the Barnes and Noble website, and the Dux Bellorum rules are being sold for the Nook for $10.16 USD. The link is here:
