Hi All,

I've just added a post to my blog about my thoughts on Dux Bellorum after having played a couple of games.

Not all it's quacked up to be?

I am readying my own forces. Ferb said he had fun and would recommend the game to others. That sounds like a pretty positive review to me.

The fact is Dark Ages battles in the Arthurian period is a pretty narrow scope, and if you are going fast play for larger battles that just narrows it more.

The rules include lots of options for adding colour if you so desire.

What do people expect from a 62 page Osprey with lots of full page art?

I agree. Not perfect, but works as designed and has a good feel to it with mechanisms that capture the problems of early commanders. I'm guessing there will soon be a blogpost where someone has extracted the parts in different places and laid them out together.

We've had 2 games so far and both have been very good. The rules play well. They could also be quite easily used for earlier ancients armies.

Personally, I've nothing but praise for Dux Bellorum. They have rekindled interest in Dark Age/ancients games locally.

For what it's worth, I've got a trial game report up too:

My son and I both had fun and it played quickly; not much to dislike…

Thanks Ferb and Dean,
Excellent reports,
