I had another great game of Dux Bellorum last night. Helped by some good luck on my part, and bad luck on Mark's my Romano British scored a fairly close run victory.

Both Mark and I hold back plenty of LPs for cancelling hits, by the way, and use LPs for boosting attacks only rarely, when an extra hit might make all the difference.

It's a great game, but I'm trying to figure out a better way of displaying LPs etc,…

Mark used two different colours of those beads you sometimes see in flower vases, but the cohesion markers got in the way a bit. My mini dice and beads work for me. I've had plenty of games (Napoleonic, SYW, and Vietnam) that use a single die as a hit marker and you get used to them pretty quickly.

Agreed, but I'm think about the actual 'Look'.
It looks crap with Dice and beads all over the place.
Some kind of Casualty / LP marker would be better.

I'm intending to use the Patented Scrivs Curtain Ring Method (tm) for casualty recording (a brass rod "spear" sticking out of the rear of the element over which you can loop small plastic rings) – we did this for the big HC Gododdin game link to record casualties and it worked very well – simple, unobrtusive.
For LP's I'm thinking of getting shields (or bucklers for my Saxons) and putting one, two or three on a base then placing those behind the elements.

I am thinking about using the amount of figures in a unit to equal cohesion and then remove models……save all the mess….havent worked anything out for the LPs yet

Some figs manufacturers make 15mm casualties, and they are what I use. I mount the fig on a square base and use small pebbles glued on to show hits. This looks pretty cool, if I do say so myself. I got my "dead" figs from QRF in the UK. I know Donnington also sell suitable casualty figs. Fo LP my plan is to use the same plan but with standing figs. Haven't got round to making this happen just yet, though.
