Played our first game today and I really enjoyed it. Fast, simple to learn but with plenty of decisions to be made each turn. I was wondering if there was a Yahoo group or other such support network fir it? Cannot wait for my next game and it has even inspired me to finish a couple of armies! |

I was VERY impressed with the rules. Already started to buy some late Roman and Pictish minis. |

I have the kindle version but rather wish I had bought a hard copy. I really like the fact that everything you really need is in a single volume, it is vet nicely illustrated and the size / cost is ideal. |

Good to hear you enjoyed the game Balders. Maybe you can put another one on in the new year? |

A great set of rules that can easiy be used outside the period written for. We've used them for Greeks vs Persians and had some good games. Thinking of using them for South America, Aztecs vs various enemies. |

No Yahoo group that I know of, but the author, Dan Mersey, is on the Dux Bellorum forums on Board Game Geek. |

Yes there is a kindle version of DB. However, I am still working with Osprey customer support to get it updated. |

Thanks for the positive comments! As Dale says, there's a forum here: link And some DB material on my blog: link For ebooks, there's an epdf and Kindle/other ePub versions available. I've heard that certain versions of Kindle have problems with the file, but I know the epdf is fine (I have that but no Kindle). |

Dale, If I were to buy the Kindle version now, would I automatically get any update, or should I hold off a while and see what magic you can work? |
Dale Hurtt | 22 Dec 2012 2:52 p.m. PST |
If they update the Kindle version, you would have to delete the file from your device (I am using the Kindle reader on an iPad) and simply re-download it. So buying now or later really makes no difference. If Danmer is Dan Mersey then he can probably tell you what the changes are (I believe it was the Saxon list). Of course, if an errata sheet comes out in PDF, you can easily store and read that on most eReaders. |

I like the rules a lot myself. Most ancient rules tend to focus on combat between the more sophisticated, disciplined armies of history. Basically starting with rules for Romans and working from there. Which is fine, but Dux Bellorum does a nice job of handling combat between groups of warriors rather than soldiers. With some modifications for heroic archery duels I thing the rules could work very well for Pre-Mongol Samurai as well. |

Very much like the idea these days of good simple rules that dont cost the earth or use too many figures. Makes many armies more tempting to collect. |

Our games are usually taking less than 2 hours. Now for a campaign! |
