Hello all, have just posted pics of my new Norman army to use with Dux Bellorum. The figures were mostly Essex and great fun to paint.
More to see here:
link Hope you enjoy – and suggestions for good foot figures with kite shields gratefully accepted! Cheers, Aaron (Edit: Sorry these were meant to go into the gallery section, not discussion. Got distracted after getting a time out lock) |

Very nice. I have Two Dragons 15mm Normans and really like the foot figures, although the range of poses is limited. |

Dr Berserker, how does the Two Dragons range compare to Essex figures, do you know? Would they fit in the same army, do you think? Cheers, Aaron |

I actually think there is quite good range of infantry poses in the Two Dragons range link I wouldn't mix with Essex – the figures are quite chunky by comparison. Old Glory 15s are pretty good but again might be a bit big for Essex. |

Excellent, thanks Swampster. Will be bookmarking that. I'm actually thinking of using Black Hat figures at this stage, but keen to see what else might fit. |

I've mixed Two Dragons and Essex on the same base quite happily, although I can see why others might not be happy to do so. I agree that Two Dragons are slightly chunkier, but the real difference is in the poses. I find the Essex figures to be quite stiff, while the Two Dragons figures have more flow to them, and this creates the greatest sense of difference. Great set of comparison shots, Swampster. You guys make me want to get on and finish painting my Normans for Dux Bellorum. |

What size are your bases? |

The bases are 60 x 30 for foot and 60 x 40 for horse. Cheers, Aaron |

Forgot to say thanks to you, Dr Berserkeer. Will investigate further re: Two Dragons |
