Have yet to buy the Impetvs rules, but looking to put a miniature purchase together. Can someone provide a basic mix of figs needed for a Classical Indian army. I found a Basic Impetvs Roman army which I planned on using unless the full rule list is drastically different. I was planning on using 10mm. Thanks |

For Basic Impetus the maximum suggested unit count is 12 with a final vbu count of between 34 and 37. You could tinker with that list to produce army lists of other Indian Kingdoms. Suggested basis would be 0-2 Elephants, 0-2 Chariots, 1-2 Cavalry, 3-8 bow, 1-2 Javelin. |

Thanks. Would that be about a 100 point army? |

Easily, all 16 suggested units and an upgraded general nearer 300 I imagine |

The Indian lists in EI4 are much tougher than the BI list above. So it is worth getting. For one thing, the elephants can be upgraded to have Various Weapons which makes them walking tanks. T units are VBU4 |

For 30 strength point Basic Impetus armies the BI army list if fine but we regularly fight BI with 50 or even more strength point armies and for Indians etc. its far better to use the army lists in Extra Impetus 4. There are two Indian lists there plus another three or so armies with sizeable Indian components to them. We use strength points from these lists with the limitation of the army having one third of an minimum rounded up and units up to the maximums allowed. We normally have 50 point armies but allow a general arriving at 49 points to add a skirmisher value 2 to get to 51. As Marcus says these armies are generally sturdier than those in the BI army lists and with the addition of an evasion rule we've had some great battles. |

In the case of a larger classical Indian BI army you could add a unit of forest or mountain tribesmen as skirmishers. Several 10mm manufactures supply army packs of various sorts. Well worth looking into. |
