Hi all Have got a downloaded copy of Basic Impetus and the Parthian army list…. Have got a copy of Impetus and Extra Impetus on order.. My army will be coming from Essex miniatures(as they have a nice buy 10 get 1 pack free offer)…now for the questions… I am going to start on a 300pt army first…so how many bases/units would be in this size srmy????..i will already have all the units from the Basic Impetus list. Which code/s would people recommend for the General/command figures???? Can you mix Armenian cataphracts/horse archers or any other suitable Essex figs in the army without it looking wrong???..what have other people done???? I know 1 TMP'r has a 6mm Parthian army..oo JET 00????..any tips??? Thanks in advance Cheers Andy |

At 300pts, considering just 1 General, an hipotetical list could be this 1 Expert general at 30pts
Command Structure Average 12pts
1 Units of Cataphracts at VBU=7 at 35pts each
3 Units of Cataphracts at VBU=6 at 28pts each
2 Units of Horse Archers at VBU=4 at 24pts each
3 Units of Horse Archers at VBU=3 at 22pts each
2 Units of Sirmishers (bow) at 12pts each for Cataphracts calculate about 7-8 figs per base/unit
for Horse Archers 3-4 figs per base/unit
for Skirmishers 2-3 figs per Unit |

I have a Parthian army for Impetus and I found that they work quite well with more commands. For a 300pts army I would use:
1 x good general = 1 x 20 pts = 20pts
2 x mediocre generals = 2 x 10pts = 20pts
Average Command Structure = 12pts
1 x Cataphracts VBU 7 = 1 x 35pts = 35pts
2 x Cataphracts VBU 6 = 2 x 28pts = 56pts
3 x Horse Archers VBU 4 = 3 x 24pts = 48pts
3 x Horse Archers VBU 3 = 4 x 22pts = 66pts The total is 281pts, at this point you can choose to upgrade one of the generals, to take a skirmish unit (bow) or 3 fate points (I don't know if it's the right name in English).
In my opinion the added manoeuvrability is worth the cost of more generals and I have found that even mediocre ones can work (but I NEVER win an initiative roll anyway, so…). Ciao

Thanks guys,that's a great help. Luciano…apart from the Generals,this would be the same ammount of units as the BI list…correct??? Losart…you 2 are thinking along the same lines i think..that's great…. Many thanks… Now just have to get someone to chime in with the figure codes and i'm on the way to getting them done.
