Actually "German Auxiliaries" mounted and dismounted for Yaki Dori's Eastern Roman Belisarians but my long love affair with Goths motivated me..I thought long on what I imagined a 6th Century Gothic shield may look like. All OG. With the mounted unit one can view it as a representation of the speed and brutality of a mounted comitaus, crowded around the comes, compact, loyal and more than a bit violent .I think I will go 8 on a base when I do mine..

Very nice brush work! I tend to mix Musketeer and Foundry's Goths,Late Romans, Arthurian,Saxons and Franks together a lot.

Excellent work. I love my 15mm Essex Goths for DBA, but they don't love me. I have used something like 15 times and they lost every time, once to a guy who had never wargamed, and was drunk and stoned to boot.

Nice painting. I think one needs more cav figures on a base like this.

I was going for a visual metaphor of the compact, closely bound nature ,socialially and militarily ,of the comitatus. but you can't please everybody
