Hi

I was wondering which Basic Impetus lists to use to represent Nicean Byzantines, Romaniote Franks, and Late Bulgars in Basic Impetus? Or do I have to come up with my own lists?

No lists yet for BI, but they will be present as Impetus lists in the next supplement (covering also the Crusades).

After the release of Extra Impetus 2 I will have more time to work at some new BI list and will include this lists.

Hi Iosart

When should we be expecting Extra Impetus 2? By the way tomorrow we will give the rules a try. Looking forward to that!

Konstantinos

PS: Work on the translation is going steady but slow. I now am at the 3.0 section.

Extra Impetus 2 should be ready by the end of July.
For any question about the rules, just ask, here or on Impetus forum or in yahoogroups list.

Iosart we played the game. Everybody liked it (DBA crowd). It played fast and was great fun. One question. If a unit is in difficult terrain, and disordered for entering it, can it spend a turn to rally so it can move out of it without disorder. This turned up because a unit of archers(T) was hemmed into a wood by a unit of spearmen (FP). The archers were disordered so they couldn't charge into the spearmen, but they also could not move backwards to leave because of disorder. Was this normal?

Well you can exit from a Difficult terrain (1/2 speed) without being disordered. But if I have understood correctly, here the disorder comes from a backwards movement.
Also most of archers cannot charge, unless they have a I=1 (Classical Indians for example). Being disordered is not a problem, you can always charge if disordered (of course Disordered units are more fragile). You can also move in disorder across a Difficult Terrain. Usually troops recover from disorder after having crossed the terrain.

As a tactical tip, don't use difficult going as "objectives" to fight for as can happen in DBA (and DBx) games. This is more common for modern warfare.
Woods etc are mainly to break the lines. In most cases one Unit will be enough to defend the feature (and often it will be unnecessary), and in most cases once inside will take no part to the general engagement that in Basic Impetus is pretty fast.
In other words clearing a wood takes more time than routing the enemy.

My bad. What happened is that the unit entered the terrain and got disordered. Then being disordered it couldn't move back or wheel because of disorder, and could not move forward because of the enemy unit. So essentially it felt as unable to move. The question that rose is can a unit in dif.terrain rally to leave it, if they can only go back in order to leave it (due to impassable terrain or a foe in front (let us say these are 0 I troops)).

What then?

yes you can rally (1 turn) and next turn move back.

Great! Again we loved the rules, and at least one of the players will be getting Imeptus. As I am a poor grad student, I will have to wait a couple of months to scavenge the money:)

if you order 3 copies (same address), one will be free…
