Can I get peoples thoughts on these rules?

PVT,

I can't comment on these rules but they look simple enough and I've heard they give a good game.

If you are looking for Fantsy rules try Hail Ceasar Fantasy a simple but effective addition to these very good rules.

Or you could use Kings of War but with 15mm that is what I do with my club

Impetus are an excellent set of rules that concentrates on command decisions and holding reserves to have the last fresh force to use. Combat is chaotic and not pre-determined, all you can do is give yourself advantages not guarantees – some control freaks hate that fact with much venom, for me it makes the game. . .

That said I've always found the free basic version too simplified / streamlined (others OTOH prefer them for that reason)

There is a series of Basic Impetus You Tube 'how to play' videos recently released by a fan – they would probably be worth a look for you.

Zippee, If I like the basic, where can you get the non-basic? What is the non-basic called? How much is it?

Andy ONeill10 Oct 2013 11:06 a.m. PST

The non basic version of impetus is called impetus, oddly enough.
The fantasy add non is aimed at the free basic version though.
So you may well have to make some stuff up.

ok, thanks!

Nothing odd about it. There is Impetus and then the stream-lined/simplified rules called Basic Impetus.

You don't need to make anything up for Impetus Fantasy. The fantasy rules have a point system so you can construct your own units. These work perfectly in full Impetus as well as basic.

At the moment I'm painting Warmaster miniatures for this exact project!

Bill.
