With the release of FoG it appears to me that the release of the Medieval Warfare ruleset has been rather overlooked. I am currently collecting armies for the 1066 period and wondered whether anyone had played Medieval Warfare (which covers this period I believe) and, if so, what they thought of it.

If not, can anyone point me in the direction of a full scale review please?

And there is the SagaWarfare Yahoo group with lots of info re: MW. I have played it for years and really enjoy it.

Thanks everyone for the help. I've just ordered the rules as there appears to be quite a lot of people out there who play and enjoy them so they must be worth a look.

Checking out the Yahoo group now (thanks rddfxx).

Apologies for any confusion – I thought I had posted this in the Medieval section ' doh!

Medieval warfare has a rather "old school" feel…in a fun way. I have played them quite a bit at cons and have always enjoyed them. I think the figure requirement is a bit less. Before you bought, you could have tried the fast play version to see if you liked them. Another advantage to the rules set.

Medieval Warfare and its sibling Ancient Warfare are some of the best rules that I have ever played.

What is the difference between the Foundry, and older variants, if any, save for the color photos added by the latest release?

rddfxx15 Mar 2008 2:16 p.m. PST

There is a change in terminology, "frenzied" is now "Ferocious", there is a lot of extra material collected over the years on strategy, tactics, etc. I believe the rules are unchanged, but it's difficult for me to tell, since we just play the way we've been playing.
