We played a great game of Might of Arms ancients today at the Rat Palace Redux. Steve Bidwell brought his New Kingdom Egyptians. I played my Late Assyrians. True to form, Might of Arms was easy to pick up after a hiatus of 2 years and our game was fast played to about 7 turns to a conclusion. The Egyptians sacked Nineveh and the image of Ashur was taken back to Egypt in shame. My army is 1970s-mid-1980s classic Hinchcliffe while Steve Bidwell's is Old Glory. 28mm makes for a visually stunning game. You missed a great game today. It was much better than dealing with Black Friday madness. Here's a brief AAR and lots of pics. Great game

Great looking armies – I still have some of those Hinchliffe Assyrians, none of those enormous chariots I'm afraid to say! Will use some of the unarmoured infantry as levy (bow/spear) Babylonians for my late Achaemendid Persians. Garry |

Great looking game; I haven't played those rules in years. |

Thanks to all! It was a great game unlike those crap FoG games that require three sets of measuring sticks, a protractor and a bottle of prescription pain killers for the headache one develops while playing. Funny as we grow older, our gaming group wants to play games that are less "authentic"(ie: complex to the point of pointlessness) and are more "social" (ie: can drink copious amounts of fermented beverages, carry on conversations during games, come to conclusion without multiple hours of rules debate). My Hinchcliffe collection in ancients and in Napoleonics has stood the test of time that's for sure. I am sorely tempted to hit up Lead and Dice to expand the army. Yeah, the figures aren't as big nor as detailed but one has to PAINT these figures to make them look great! Ok
enough of my spleen for a Saturday

Yes, it was the best set of ancient rules I had played. |

I still like the look of those Assyrian chariots which are very well painted. Great looking battle and period to game. |
