Someone once said 'Everyone has a set of wargames rules in them' – or something like that. Anyway, mine are about to come out so I've posted a cut down version on the Crusader yahoo group for folks to download.

It includes rules, playsheet, simple army list for Saxons and Normans and some top down photos of stands of figures for you to print out.

Basing is perfectly compatible with WAB and – to a lesser extent – DMB. Rules cover battles from Biblical all the way through to Renaissance. Consistent points system throughout!

The idea is to produce these rules in the same format as GW WAB – 64 pages, colour cover, perfect bound, 16 colour pages inside – which do look very nice and I've always been impressed by the quality of WAB supplements.

Unfortunately I've never been keen on WAB as a rules set or – more recently – for the price of the books (which seem to be going up as the page numbers go down) so I've decided I'll sell mine for about half what you'd expect to pay.

Anyway, the free download is so that you can try the rules out first and if you dont like them you wont even have to waste the £7-8 that I'll be selling them for.

Overseas retailers and distributors – please get in touch. If you are in the UK contact Nick Eyre at Northstar. I'm not planning on making a profit on these rules so will be offering stupidly generous trade discounts.

Thanks a lot Mark. I've downloaded them and am looking forward to giving them a go!
