It's supposedly coming in "early 2017" last I heard. What changes/improvements/additions are you hoping to see? |

Can't say that I am, since I'm no longer near my regular FoG opponents. I am confused though, since there was a huge fire sale on the army list books about a year ago, and the announcement that they would not to printed again. |

Severed ties with Osprey .. if it is to be printed again it will be via another source as I understand it. IMHO that bus has left and v3 wont regenerate much interest. |

Well, for starters any FOG-ruleset needs to be compatible with the existing army books. No chance of swapping if not. You could, however, release addons/changes or cover some areas in more depth (eg, the HRE in the late medieval phase). Changes to existing lists should be free (at least as pdf), imho. If you want different major addons: sieges and campaigns Perhaps in the form of a boardgame or online-support. Reformating the rules for better learnability would be a good idea, imho. Too many pages with special cases handled are what turned many players in my group off. If you want major ingame-concepts – formation changes. Dig in? Try to collect all battle-reports – especially from tournaments – and try to identify and eliminate all possibilities were gamers play the rules rather then the game. If rules make something worthwhile that looks ahistorical, it has to go. As my last FOG game is years ago (I swapped to FOGR before FOG2 came out) I am not the right person on this one… |

FOG 3 is in the play test phase. Target is publication date in Spring of 2017. Currently, there is no intention to republish the army books. Some army lists are being looked at for changes to make them more compatible to the V3 changes. The stated intent is to release those changes as PDFs or as part of a list errata sheet. Some point changes are being considered and an updated army list spreadsheet that includes the point changes is being tested. How much support from Slitherine for add-ons such as sieges and campaigns has yet to be determined. |

If FOG3 was somehow streamlined for faster play and reformatted I would be interested. I have FOG2 but its easier to use other rules. |

I assume that if FOG3 is already out with the playtesters and there is a schedule for release, then major changes are already considered and decided upon. Any crumbles on what we may expect? If reformating the rules is an issue, may we also expect FOGR2, somewhere this decade? How much support from Slitherine for add-ons such as sieges and campaigns has yet to be determined. Not sure why you need Slitherine for that, but a good game in that regard that puts actual engagements into a context and probably also creates lots of unbalanced scenarios that can be fun to play out) is definitely missing. I have to try out "All lost save Honor" in that regard some day, but a game linked to tabletop rules and era-specific would likely work better, and offer a large catalogue of theatres for followup publications. |

Not sure why you need Slitherine for that… Isn't Slitherine the publisher? |

I am a frequent player of FOG2. The ideas I've read concerning suggested changes for FOG3 didn't impress me and I suspect its arrival may simply fragment FOG gamers further. I agree with earlier comment I won't be changing my army from the existing list as I've invested too much time on the current version. An add on related to sieges could be of interest. I note one of the original rules writers Simon Hall has a new rule set called Mortem et Glorium which has interesting ideas including preventing skirmishers holding up lines of battle troops. Unfortunately again if I can't use my army established under the FOG army books this is a bridge too far for me. |

I like FoG. We've played FoG1 for a few years now. Recently moved into FoG2….though locating a rule book has proved impossible so it's the downloaded "Differences" sheet for us. I've looked at FoG3 discussions & will certainly look into what eventuates before deciding to use it or not. |

Like Tyroflyer I think this will fragment FOG further as most of the changes seem to be about speeding the game up for tournaments. I'm not a competition player so have no problem with the game as is so will probably stick with FOG2. Most of the drive for change, including FOGR, seems to originate with the tourney players who happen to be the most vocal on the forums. I suspect there is a silent majority for whom these tweaks will pass un-noticed. |

Our group has already turned the page and plays ADLG. If the fixes look good, we could conceivably return to FoG, but it seems unlikely. |
