I've been able to pick up a pack of the Crafter's Square Wood Planks – rectangular (7.1 x 2.8 in). At six for $1.25 USD, these are great value. In 28mm, you could put a row of trees on one; you could also use them for basing larger ship models or large scenics.

If you buy them online in bulk, it appears you get a mix of squares and rectangles. Save on shipping by having them sent to your local store.
