Some comments on my defeat…

First of all, the campaign did give Julia the advantage in the first battle. She had 30 points, I had 25 points.

Then Dwarves cost lots of points, so I had 6 stands, and she had 11 stands! (Then again, she basically beat me only using six of those stands….) grin

My thinking was to establish a battle line, trust in the toughness of the Dwarves, and try to keep her from hitting my flanks.

I didn't see any advantage in advancing up the field once the game began (and my dierolls were lousy for movement, anyway) – while I hoped her army would lose cohesion as it advanced, due to different units having different movement rates.

So… I was thoroughly defeated, and will rethink my strategy for our next battle.

"She reads much;
She is a great observer, and she looks
Quite through the deeds of Orcs and Editors."

Well played Julia!

That's an interesting way to play a miniatures game.

One thought. Moving a unit or units out of a group counts as a Reform, does it not? So can the unit that moved away actually charge? And does the primary unit count as having Reformed? Either one or both of those units should have counted as reformed, if I'm not mistaken.
I don't have my first edition book with me but my second edition book states that a unit that reforms can make no other move…
Anybody?…
