Slight typo in the article, listing 15mms as the maximum dimension in any axes.

Turns out it's really 150mms, or 15cms, which is good, since 15mm x 15mm x 15mm is rather small for many minis.

$300 USD does sound like an attractive price.

Wonder how long 'til owners of these start offering their services to amateur artists?

Might be an attractive proposition for both parties.

Only partially.

Should be 15cm x 15cm x 15cm…….

Blue painters tape works just as well as the tape they supply. I used that with my older Replicator 2 and it worked just fine.

Good luck with your new adventure! Thingiverse is your friend, and also, I recommend running any and all models through this service- modelrepair.azurewebsites.net

It's free and it fixes any problems in the underlying model. I even run my own models through it to fix any unforeseen problems.

I'm happy to share advice if you have any questions. I've learned a lot over the last few years printing my own models.

Enjoy the new printer!

I think the only problem with blue painters tape would be the seam line, it would show up on the model's surface, right?

Not if you lay it carefully. They make it up to 4 inches wide. I buy the really fat rolls and then line them up so that if my print is larger than that, the seems run parallel rather than overlapping.

I plan on testing some of the aftermarket bed-liners and reporting on them in the future.

I for one am very excited a bout the future of 3D printing. The sky is not the limit, (and I say that in all sincerity)
I think spacehip wargaming is about to explode for one.

From what I've seen, the technology is just now starting to settle down. I'm liking the idea of being able to design and print minis as I need them, but I'm going to wait until the dust settles on the technology, so to speak.

I've been waiting on a review of this machine; link
as the price is on $200 USDusd and has a heated bed but a smaller print area.
I've been using a Printrbot Metal since February with very few problems and it's been great fun to make minis, pendants, SF war-machines, and piping nozzles for cake icing. :)

I ordered a printer last night. I think it will be fun to learn what all it can do. I think there is great potential the next few years.

I picked up the Lulzbot Mini a little over a week ago and my productivity in terms of creating terrain pieces has skyrocketed.

I've copied this from another posting I made just in case you didn't see it.

About three months ago I started researching 3D printers for our hobby. I called most if not all 3D printer companies in the United States to see if their printer can give me the quality that I was looking for. Most of these companies have $300 USD USD printers that tout they can print. Yes they can print but is it what we are looking for.

I quickly came to the conclusion the answer was no. In order for me to find a printer that I wanted I needed to up my budget. I soon discovered Wanhao Printers. In particular their Duplicator 6. This is a $799.00 USD USD printer that does give me what I want. It prints vehicles that I've designed as well as buildings and terrain. I was so happy with this printer I bought two! My business quickly changed and I ordered three more. I Now own two D6, two Wanhao Duplicator 5 minis; for bigger print areas and their newest model the i3 plus. In the next month or so I am buying a third D6.

I have had such great success I decided to start selling them through my store.

I want to be a contact for the miniature gaming community and a point of trust and knowledge for these printers. I want people to know that yes this technology is available and it will do what we are looking for.

If you have any questions about the printers and my experience please feel free to message me on here, email me at spakot@gmail.com and or message me on Facebook. My name is Tim Spakowski

Here is my store and here are some videos of the Duplicator 6 in action.

The new i3 plus sells for $499.00 USD USD and is a great starter printer. I use that for my 20mm vehicles and buildings.
