Previously, I made a wargaming music video combining one of the 'wargaming theme songs' with a picture of pirates playing a miniature wargame:
I thought it would be fun to revisit this, using the same art, but supplying a more applicable song for pirates playing a wargame!
With the help of AI, these lyrics were finalized:
(Verse 1)
The tide runs high, the pint is full,
No landlubber’s tale, no empty pull.
Our fleet assembled, canvas grand,
Plastic models close at hand!
The cannons primed, the dice are cast,
Another sea dog’s chance to last!
(Chorus)
Yo ho ho, a grand old spree!
For ships of wood and painted sea!
We’ll hoist the Jolly Roger high,
Beneath this tavern’s smoky sky!
Hear the pipes, the drums so deep,
Secrets of the ocean keep!
(Verse 2)
The longboat’s launched, the rules are clear,
No fear of battle, banish fear!
We chart our course, with skillful hand,
Across this tabletop ocean land.
A broadside fired, a skillful punt,
Another victory for the hunt!
(Chorus)
Yo ho ho, a grand old spree!
For ships of wood and painted sea!
We’ll hoist the Jolly Roger high,
Beneath this tavern’s smoky sky!
Hear the pipes, the drums so deep,
Secrets of the ocean keep!
I later realized that the AI was having trouble with "tabletop," so I broke it down to "table top" for the AI.
I also had to give the AI some musical instructions, for which the final version was:
Rolling waves crashing against a creaking wooden ship, seagulls calling overhead, lively accordion melodies, pounding drums driving the rhythm, triumphant brass fanfares, rowdy gang vocals chanting a sea shanty, energetic tempo, swashbuckling adventure, salty sea air tang, immersive stereo spread, dynamic transitions mimicking the ebb and flow of the ocean, vibrant and robust sound design, evoking the spirit of high seas escapades.
Then all that was left to do was to hit the 'generate' button a few times until I got a tune I liked! Even though the tune has some minor flaws, I liked this one enough to make it a keeper.
(The flaws are that it sings 'plastic and models' instead of 'plastic models' in the first verse, and in the final chorus it seems to be singing lines on top of each other.)
Another change I made was to use AI to animate the art, creating a 10-second video which is looped throughout the music. This is more attention grabbing, but greatly increases the size of the file.
The art and music were then combined to create the following video, using ClipChamp:
I've also posted the video as a reel on the TMP Facebook page, where despite being one of my personal favorites, it is performing just above average for TMP.
