Ammunition Hill 1967

Hi Quester and Gang,

To answer your question:

"Are there any maps of the battle movements and of the emplacements?"

Yes, there are all kinds of maps available for the 1956, '67, and '73 Arab-Israeli Wars.

Here are two awesome resources for you:

The best books short of period maps (…appear on E-bay occasionally, although often in Hebrew) were published by the West Point Military Academy in the United States.

Samuel "Shmuel" Katz has also made a number of fine books with great tactical & strategic maps.

And, ugh, you guys are reminding me that my group wants me to refurbish my microarmor collection so that we can do some AIW! As if I didn't have enough other miniatures projects!

Positive vibes to everyone!

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

P.S.
Ammunition Hill has one web site in English and there are several Hebrew ones. A few of the Syrian propaganda web sites also reference it, but they're only in Arabic.

Halftrack-mounted infantry were also present.

Jerusalem Brigade was in positions south of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Paratroopers Brigade.

Three batalions of infantry with support weapons.

Ammunition was a problem for the Brigade, due to supply being arranged for a drop in the Sinai. Ammunition was also a problem at Ammunition Hill due to the need for grenades, and automatic firing in the trenches. Ammunition expenditure was greater than what was given to the individual man, and ammunition was taken from the dead and wounded, and from the mens' packs. The ammunition from the packs had to be placed inside magazines to fire.

The Brigade was equiped with MAG's, rifles, and Uzi submachineguns. Phosphorus, smoke, concussion, and fragmentation grenades were also carried. Explosives were carried in the packs, which were dropped due to the tight quarters in the trenches. Bazzokas were also used. Bangalore torpedoes were used at the breakthrough areas by the sappers. The infantry were also equiped with support weapons. Two tanks showed up during the fighting, after beeing fetched by a paratrooper officer.
