Trenches going up the slope of the hill

The battle took place on 5-6 June 1967. Ammunition Hill is north of Jerusalem, and from this position one can see the northern approaches to Jerusalem, which have traditionally been the best approach to the Old City of Jerusalem.

The Jordanians had built trenches and bunkers at Ammunition hill. Some of these bunkers held ammunition for the Jordanian forces in Jerusalem.
