Like a lot of you, I use cutting mats as a working surface on my painting workbench. These are designed with a surface that supposedly 'heals itself' after being cut. These mats used to be quite expensive, but costs have been coming down.

Cutting mat

Several months ago, the Dollar Tree chain of dollar stores announced that they would have cutting mats in their stores. This became somewhat of a joke, as the mats never showed up! But, finally, they're in the stores.

This is a 7" x 9" cutting mat with a 6" x 8" grid, in the Crafter's Square product line (i.e., in the crafts section). Website calls it a 'pad', but the product label says 'mat'. Not bad for a dollar!
