About this time, you're probably wondering... what's up with the colored golf tees next to all the ships?
Well, at the start of the game, each ship has a number of golf tees assigned to it, based according to the firing capabilities of that ship. The golf tees are both colored and numbered.
But now that the fleets have come within range of each other, the golf tees are used to indicate which ship is firing at which target (with bonuses applying to firing on the same target in future turns).
My destroyers seem to have attracted a fair amount of incoming fire, wouldn't you say?
Two of my brave destroyers continue with the original plan, charging into the Allies while firing guns (and torpedoes!). It's not quite as suicidal as it looks - there is a Japanese task force off camera to the left...
While my other destroyers discharge their torpedoes up the center of the field of battle, then turn right to get behind that sheltering island.
