Whitemanticore & Nazrat's Game Table

nazrat writes:

Thanks, guys. We've run it eight times so far, and the US has won five, and the Germans three. The Jerries had a couple more about in the bag, but blew it by either being a bit too passive, or, as in our last game at Cold Wars WAY too aggressive. It's a really well designed scenario.

EZ Company game board

These photos are of the game table Jerry (nazrat) Frazee and myself worked on for an Arc of Fire game we ran at Cold Wars 2005, sponsored by Mike Owens of Artizan and Lon at Brigade Games. Artizan provided us with all the miniatures to run the game (which kept Jerry and I busy painting!).

Lt. Winters

The battle is straight out of the SkirmishCampaigns book D-Day First Hours, which is based upon the actual fight that then-Lt. Winters and a small unit of the 101st Airborne took part in against an entrenched German Artillery platoon. This battle was also dramatized on the HBO special Band of Brothers. This particular engagement continues to be taught at West Point as the proper tactical use of fire teams to suppress and assault an objective.

Road and bocage

Jerry and I put in many hours to create a fun and exciting modular game table for the convention, and hope that folks attending Cold Wars enjoyed it.
