Gen Con So Cal 2006 Day 1 Report

Dearcy writes:

The board game area was pretty active between 10pm and anywhere from 1-2am most nights. I counted at least 15 different groups playing (mostly pick-up games) at one point on Saturday night.

I've heard a lot of grousing about the move to L.A. and there have been some valid points. Is Gen Con overpriced? Absolutely. Will I continue to attend? You bet.

Wyatt the Odd Fezian reports:

Star Wars ships

Wizards of the Coast has also been very active. Their Star Wars Starship Battles range will feature 60 miniatures depicting space craft from the original trilogy, the prequels, and the Expanded Universe. These miniatures will be released on Friday, November 24, but some will be sold at the convention starting Saturday.

Also being released are the figures from the Axis & Allies Battle of the Bulge, which include an M-4 Sherman with Calliope rocket launcher, the Dornier Do-335 "Arrow" and the Me-262 jet.

Dragons

Wizards also previewed their large blue dragon, which is due out in January.
