My understanding is that there's a two-tiered system in the Philippines – the free public hospitals and the for-pay private hospitals. The free hospitals are avoided at all costs, if families can possibly find the money for the private hospitals.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian asked me to give you an update on how my brother-in-law Mohammad is doing.

He is much better now, and is able to do some work at home, such as washing clothes, cooking, and cleaning the house. And take care of their children, since his wife Noraisa is far from them now.

A few days ago, he got sick and we were worried. Maybe he worked too hard. We told him to work slowly! And now he is quite well.

Can you see the towel on the side of his tummy? That's where his intestine comes out. Next week he was scheduled for the operation where the intestine is returned to the normal position. (Actually, earlier this month was the original schedule, but they gave another time since we did not have the money yet.)

His wife Noraisa has been here in Manila with me for almost three months, arranging to fly to Kuwait for work to support their family. Fortunately, she is finally flying this Sunday (27th of November). After she has worked a few months, she will be able to send money for the operation.

Thanks again to everyone for their help! Without you, Mohammad might not have had the cancer operation in time.
