I used to be pretty vague on why Napoleon III launched the whole French Intervention in Mexico (actually, the Second Intervention), so I thought it might be educational to make a music video and let him explain his motivation! grin

I started by asking the AI to explain why Napoleon III did what he did. When I felt the AI was on track, I asked it to write lyrics for a song from Napoleon III's viewpoint. I made a few 'improvements', and here are the final lyrics:

(Verse 1)
The maps are spread across the Tuileries
The ink is wet with grander destiny
They say the world belongs to those who speak in English tongues
But they have not felt the fire in a Bonaparte’s lungs.
The Eagle of the North is torn, divided by war
Its eyes are turned inward, leaving Mexico alone
A vacuum in the sunlight, a chaos in the dirt
And I shall be the healing for a nation’s ancient hurt.

(Pre-Chorus)
Not for the silver, and not for the debt
But for a glory the world won't forget
A Catholic banner, a Latin embrace
To put the Republic back in its place.

(Chorus)
I see a Mediterranean of the setting sun
A bridge between the oceans where the trade will run
I dream of an Empire, gold and sublime
A barrier to Caesar, a fortress through time.
From the halls of Vienna, I’ll send them a King
To hear how the bells of Chapultepec ring
Mexico! My masterpiece, my crown in the West
Where the lilies of France will finally rest.

(Verse 2)
They call it intervention, I call it a rebirth
To bring the Roman spirit back to this corner of the earth
Let Juárez flee to the desert, let the Liberals hide their face
For Maximilian will bring the light of a more noble race.
We’ll harvest the Sonora, we’ll tame the wilder shore
And the shadow of the Yankee shall darken us no more
A balance for the nations, a check upon the greed
Of a Union that is broken, of a restless, northern breed.

(Bridge)
They told my uncle, "Never," they told the Great One, "No"
But I see the reflection in the Gulf of Mexico.
It’s not a mere adventure, it’s a "Grand Design"
To draw a border in the sand - a sacred, Latin line!
If the Rhine is our border, then the world is our stage
And I’ll be the author of a new Golden Age.

(Outro)
The dream is so vivid…
The colors so bright…
The sun never sets on a Bonaparte’s night.
History will judge…

Sonauto this time had little problem with the lyrics. Surprisingly, I had to change 'Caesar' to "Seeser'. 'Juarez' became 'Warrez' as usual.

The music style was:

French, Musical theater, operatic pop, 72 BPM, 3/4 waltz time, grand piano, sweeping orchestral strings, dramatic French horn swells, powerful male baritone vocals, regal, ambitious, 19th-century drama.

And the music tags were 'operatic pop, orchestral pop, chamber pop, classical crossover, 2020s, symphonic rock'.

I was surprised and pleased with a final tune that was a bit grandiose, and I think would be great on Broadway! grin

Nano Banana came up with the original art, which I edited in Flux Klein because I kept having problems with the candelabra.

The Grand Design

Then I made a loop animations of the candlelight flickering, and as a bonus, the AI decided to make Napoleon III examine the map!

The final step was to combine the music and the animation with titles, using ClipChamp:

I've posted the video as a reel on the TMP Facebook page. Due to the size of the file, you might find it easier to view on Facebook. Also, you can see English captions with the Facebook version.

So that's my bit for helping to explain what Napoleon III had in mind with this whole adventure. One of my personal favorite music videos.
