It's now the "start" of my usual TMP day. In general, I spend the first half of the work session on special issues (contests, coding, special articles, advertisers), and the second half on daily content.
First, I check to see if any more Supporting Member payments have come in? No.
Next, anything crucial in email? No.
Then I might as well start writing up my first Day in the Life of the Editor reports. I'll file them in the Profiles database. I haven't used Profiles much lately - in fact, I'm a little rusty with the interface (do I want to initiate a "sister" article or a "mother" article? who designed this stinking interface, anyway? Oh, I did...).
Most of the content for TMP is put into place through the use of special administrative webpages - pages that only I can get to, and you can't. The most "modern" parts of the site share a common interface, and use common coding modules. Profiles is kind of in-between - it uses the "old" interface (old-time TMP readers will note that it even uses the "pewter" background the website used to have) and the "old" database system, but I've spliced in the "new" formatting commands (custom for TMP). Unfortunately, as I am soon reminded, I've never spliced in support for the new stylesheets. Oh well, add that to my list of things to do... That means I can't get too fancy in how I write these reports up. :-)
It takes me an hour to write up my progress reports, and grab some quick screenshots. A whole hour? Wow.
