In round four, the RAF returned the favor with greater effect than the Luftwaffe. A Hurricane, armed with cannons, strafed the Italian artillery and was able to kill one gun crew. My suppressed New Zealand infantry, once full of gallantry, failed their motivation test again and remained pinned down. My 6lb guns further reduced the enemy by scoring two kills on the infantry attacking my left flank The Indian defenders were able to kill off a few more Italians as they advanced up the hill using their avanti skill.
Although time was running out, my overly-cautious opponent continued to hold back. He used his tanks to attack my AT guns from long range, but were only able to kill one crew. Because of the concealment bonus and the long-range penalty, he needed a result of 6 on a six-sided die to score a hit. The Stug III missed and rifle fire from the infantry was also ineffective against my dug-in infantry.
My beleaguered New Zealand infantry now found themselves in need of assistance. They again failed a motivation test, and suffered more casualties from Italian rifle fire. The New Zealanders were still suppressed and could do little besides seek cover.
