Once a master exists, a mold can be built. From each mold, a great number of figures can be cast (until the mold wears out).
The first step in preparing the mold for casting is to apply talc to the rubber halves of the mold. This talc - a powder, contained inside a sock-like bag - will help the molten metal flow smoothly to all portions of the mold, and will also make it easier to separate the finished figures from the mold.
