Scenario for an ambush, and convoy in the Negev in March of 1948:

Universal carriers at Latrun
Route:
Main highway, and then secondary road to Nir'am.
Intell:
Enemy gathering in local villages. Mines and ambushes are being prepared.
Enemy:
Size unknown
Israeli:
4 armoured cars, each with 1 squad; 10 trucks, 2 radios, and 2 fuel trucks
Organization:
1 AC in front, 2 AC in middle, 1 AC in rear
Start:
Rehovot 0215. 2 fuel trucks joined at this time.
Terrain:
Desert, with some bridges over wadis, vegetation near water, fields, and villages. Culverts along the roads.
