I'm back from the baptismal service, and changing back into more comfortable attire. Good to see my wife again. She's even grabbed dinner on the way - we don't make a habit of fast food, but it's well-timed since I'm behind schedule tonight...
(It's at this point that I realize I'm not going to get tomorrow's content done by a reasonable hour, if I keep writing my Day in the Life reports as I go! So from here I'll keep notes, and write the reports up tomorrow.)
I've been gone for a while, so I make the usual website check. Everything looks good, no mad posts, no member payments have come in, one question from an advertiser that I quickly answer.
And another "bad link" report that isn't - they're reporting Byte Mountain as a "bad" link. The website is fine, they're just complaining I guess about including a software company in the Manufacturers Directory - but they make GridSmith, which you can use to print out campaign maps or even tactical maps, so I'm leaving them in.
(I shouldn't grumble - heaven knows I'd rather get more bug fix requests than fewer. At least the guy is trying to be helpful. And maybe Byte Mountain really was briefly offline...)
Back to tomorrow's content. My next check is the Painting Services bin, to see if anything has some in from one of the professional painting services. (Sometimes they move, or add new services, or a new one springs up, or sometimes they just have real cool pictures of their latest work.) Nothing today.
Now to the Manufacturers bin. I'm always getting requests for updates to the Manufacturers Directory, and one way to nibble at that elephant is to do at least one update daily. (I'll do a longer session each week to catch up on everyone, or process the more complicated updates.)
I've got a note here about a new edition of a WWII rulebook, so I jump over to their website to find out what's up. No, wait - the note is in error, this isn't a new rulebook, this is a military history book. Also, it's hard to tell from their website, but I think this is "old" news. Scrap that item.
Ah, here's one I can do quickly - the new fax number for Baccus 6mm. Oh, and I see they're now calling themselves "Baccus 6mm, Ltd." - never noticed that before, so I also update that in the listings.
Then I run an notice of the change for the homepage. My feeling is that if I reward the companies by giving them a little publicity for sending me an update, they'll be more willing to do it in the future.
There's no picture to go with this story, so I grab one from my files - Baccus always likes it when I run a picture of their 6mm scale products...
