As the game begins, the Austrians aggressively move forwards on their right, anchoring their flank on the hill line (bottom of picture). The best of the Austrian infantry is stationed here. The French cautiously advance to make contact. After the first exchange of fire, it becomes clear that the Austrian line will not be able to stand up for long against the French skirmishers.
