This event was a playtest of a scenario intended for a future supplement to Sand, Oil and Blood. Five Pakistani players, equipped largely with Shermans and Pattons (and supporting infantry and artillery), were attempting to storm across a critical wadi. Three Indian players -- with AMX-13 tanks, anti-tank guns, and pillboxes up front, and Centurions in reserve -- had the mission of holding the line.

I took command of the AMX-13 company (5 platoons), emplacing them in hastily prepared positions in clumps of woods across the front (though mostly to the west, where there were more trees). Our team's strategy was to concentrate fire on the two bridges.

Three of the Pakistani players glower as their tank fleet cruises onto the tabletop. The blue felt stripe is the wadi, crossed by bridges at the two roads. Our Indian forces are positioned in every scrap of cover on the near side of the wadi.
