Brent Anderson posing with his latest product, the Pirate Ship

Brent's pride and joy is the latest addition to his product line, a "semi scale" pirate ship designed for use with 25-30 mm miniatures. Approximately 49 cm long overall, and 37 cm high, the kit includes eighteen guns, masts, spars and sail cloth. The ship is designed to represent pirate ships rather than to accurately depict any actual ship, and works equally well for historical gaming or for fantasy wargames.

The pirate miniatures shown in the pictures are from Foundry's Cutthroats line. "They are wonderfully detailed and really a joy to paint," says Brent. "In fact, part of the fun of pirates is that you can use all of the wonderful colors that sit collecting dust whey you're painting drab WWII figures."

Brent has always been a better painter than I am. Twenty or so years ago, when I was reviewing miniatures for magazines such as The Space Gamer and The Fantasy Gamer, Brent was my reviewing partner and painted all of the figures. "I have streamlined my painting style over the years to a bare minimum," he says. "There are no washes used on these figures, nor do I lavish time painting the whites of the eyes as I once did on D&D figures." (Some of the fantasy figures Brent painted are still in my figure collection, and have been used from time to time in pictures at this website...)
