This was the first year for GameCon, a game convention in the San Francisco Bay Area (in Pleasanton, California). As you might guess from the name, this was a convention for game players - there were different tracks for role-playing games, collectible card games, boardgames, and miniatures. Even though two conventions were in the same hotel (the other convention was a car show), there seemed to be plenty of space for everything, and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
