It was my fate at this convention to play in two games run by folks from Jackson Gamers and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. This game was played using Steam, Iron & Tin, available from Thoroughbred Figures.
I ended up on the Confederate side, and our fleet started in one corner of the table. The scenario was loosely based on history, but the umpire gave the Confederates more ships (since they've never managed to win!).
The Union fleet is in the other corner of the board, and begins "surprised" - that is, their vessels do not have steam up, and will not be able to maneuver at first. They also have a valuable "stores" vessel that the Confederates need to prevent from escaping.
I've been given command of a casemate ironclad and a fast cottonclad ram. The strategy for the ram seems clear - race in there and ram something before the Union fleet gets steam up!
