I've used the small hexagonal "jewels" as rivets on VSF vehicles. You do have to paint over them. Unless you like shiny and sparkling vehicles.

I picked up a few packs of something called nail gems recently at Dollar Tree.

Nail Gems

I understand the purpose is to add bling to your fingernails, but I am more interested in blinging my minis!

Nail Gems

The L.A. Colors range provides a sheet of gems, a flower-shaped container of 'flower' gems, and an eraser pencil (used to pick up the gems). I got the 'sapphire' pack, but they have others that look like diamonds or pearls.

Nail Gems

The Mila Studio product provides a container with six compartments.

Nail Gems

These nail gems provide more variety, but at slightly larger sizes.

What could you use these for? Treasure in a dungeon. Jewels on a character. Accents on a starship. Alien eyes. Sensors on a 'mech. Tip of a magic wand. Advanced sci-fi controls. Elven shields and armor. Weapon lens. Have fun!
