Somewhat humorously the Asterix cartoon series

So, out of eight choices of answer, only three are actual films!

Gladiator got more of the details right (although it, like nearly all films has the combat devolve into a melee of individual fights), but I still voted for Sparticus. The scene with the enormous Roman legions marching over the hill and deploying into battle formation is still one of the best ever.

I echo ScottWashburn. It still gives me chills after all these years.

The sea battle in "Ben Hur" (1959). Although not a land battle, it remains the "Best Roman Battle Scene in a Film" IMHO.

So Scott when can we expect some Roman/Barbarian buildings to show up on Paper Terrain?

I started on a few long ago under the urging of Duke Siefried, but never made much progress. Most ancient gamers don't really need any towns or villages on their battlefields. But I'll be retiring from my real job in about a year and will have some more free time. Perhaps I'll be able to get some more PaperTerrain projects done :)
