Blondie is so NOT disco.. she came out of the alt scene, CBGB like Talking Heads. And she's brilliant.

Of course she is (they are). "Heart of Glass" is quintessential Disco, and deliberately so. It was written specifically to be a top hit and at the disco audience.
I'm not talking about the rest of their work at all. Just HoG.

It wouldn't be the first time, or the last, when an act stepped outside their familiar milieu and had a smash hit outside it.

In the same vein as Khusrau notes, ABBA was not primarily disco,but pop. They did a few songs that had the "disco beat"--Voulez Vous,for example, but the ones in this poll aren't among them. Just what everyone thinks of. Pete Townsend considered "SOS" the greatest pop song ever written.
