Because the young individuals of today are greatly lacking in all sorts of skills.

Thus, at least in the short run, there would be plenty to eat for those without hunting skills.

Most people regardless of age don't have most of tbe skills on the list.

As I looked at the list, I am so pleased to know that the young men I work with and mentor can do all but three. The Trail Life USA program does not allow actual killing but other than that, trapping and horse back riding they would do ok.

Where is the All of the Above option?

I believe there are quite a few 'young people' in the Berated Parts of the U.S.A. that can do almost all of the above but if you were going by the general population, almost all of the above would be lacking.

That is not to say that I myself would not be dead five minutes into any type of apocalypse, zombie or otherwise.

I'm with Fredrick. More is the ability to RESEARCH and LEARN these skills. Right now most don't seem to have the desire or want to know where to start.

I just said other…..cause most teens I know are useless outside of a mall or controlled environment. My girl friend's youngest is 19. Can't fix anything on a car, can only cook what is on the menu at the cafe he works in, no physical skills at all. And he is about the same as most of my friend's ids.
