Suppose my company has 3 more or less platoons of 10 bases each. I paint the slopes different colors to distinguish them. |

I paint them to match whatever the flocking is, green for grass or brown for mud or tan for desert sand. |

I leave them unflocked and painted brown. I like the look so much that is pretty much my basing standard for everything now…. Makes each base into a mini diorama….. |

I leave them brown (actually Krylon Satin Khaki) because it blends well with the felt I use as a groundsheet. Others I use as "Possible Enemy Position" stands, so I paint edges red oxide primer, since I want them to stand out more and to distinguish them from "real" stands. |

Don't play FOW but my bases are also sloped, I generally paint them brown – although I am thinking about different colors for each army or brigade. |

I also don't play FOW but with sloped bases I match them to the flocking |
