Silly question. War is not meant to be fair or sporting. You want to overwhelm the enemy while minimizing any damage or casualties to your own side.

Actually I think they are bloody dangerous!
Skynet and all that

I have no interest in making warfare 'sporting', but another vote for them being bloody dangerous to anyone nearby…

Yes unsporting, anything more high tech then matchlock muskets and repiers are unsporting.

If they are like any other autonomous thing they are probably safer than people with weapons.

I'm not sure what "sporting" would mean in the context of modern warfare.

Mako1104 Aug 2015 11:51 a.m. PST

Yes, definitely unsporting, as are automatic firing weapons, and crossbows.

Terrement04 Aug 2015 12:07 p.m. PST

The choices are off. They ARE unsporting, but that is the whole point. Further, they are legitimate weapons of war.

I save sporting for Frisbee golf.

If you want a sporting chance go to a bookmaker. I'd rather the armed forces that protect us be as unfair and unsporting as we can afford to make them. Keep me fat, dumb and happy in my bed and bring them home safe.

examples of Autonomous Weapons landmines, booby traps, trip wire weapons and traps, IEDs, etc etc.

Mardaddy07 Aug 2015 10:50 a.m. PST

I say other.

For landmines, booby traps, trip wire weapons and traps, IEDs, etc. etc., I have no issues, unsporting does not matter.

Since I already have an issue with using piloted drones, I have to include the soon to be functional autonomous drones in the mix being asked about, and like the use of piloted drones, I am against their deployment, sporting or not.
