Quite a few of these companies are no longer with us. 3D is a crapshoot you don't really know what your getting or the scale. One persons 28mm is another persons 25mm or 30mm. Quality is hit or miss. An STL is useless unless you have a 3D printer.

Then there is the recent trend of MDF kits which is a non-starter for me as I do not like putting them together. Turns out to be a colossal waste of money.

I happen to like MDF kits. I have a few in progress now. As soon as they come up in a Poll, I'm voting for them.

No, I don't like MDF kits. There are usually very few
directions on building them and I can never get everything to fit together. Plus, I just don't like the look of them.

I like MDF and 3D prints, depends on the project.

I don't have a printer, but I have several friends who do and I buy them spools of PLA and files to use.

I have downloaded the program Cura so I can open STLs and see the exact size of each piece and it is very simple to change the scaling in Cura, either proportionally or independently on each axis, and see the resulting size change. Then I can tell my friends with printers exactly what scaling to print them at.

MDF cleans up very nicely. Takes a little bit of work, just like it does getting a cast resin building to look nice. I think for the folks who don't like the look, the builder didn't take the time to file visible burnt edges before assembly/painting. Amount of instructions varies tremendously by company, overall I've found them to have sufficient instructions to fit the complexity of the kit.
