I would use plastic for rank'n file, but also some metal – notably given the many excellent metal figures out there

I would only play 28mm ACW as a skirmish game so metal would be proper. Plastics and paper do not weigh enough.

I did not know there was a weight requirement for gaming. I guess mass battle games can use plastics because the overall weight will meet this minimum requirement but skirmish games have to use metal to reach it?

@Pictors: this only encourages my use of plastic in skirmish games, I always seem to be a rebel!
