Well, that appears to be it for Round 1. Anyone have a best guess on how many rounds we're looking at?

How many letters in the alphabet?

Surely there is a novel about Zenobia, Queen of Palmyra? As part of a series, obviously.

Oh, of course! Actually, probably a series about her--35 books and each one Zenobia Something. How could I not have thought of that? Actually, I think I was wrong anyway. We're running 16 titles a letter, and the last one was 16 titles, so either we've hit a fair-size mathematical coincidence or there's more to come.

Twilight Samurai, what you do after Round 1Z is find another alphabet. At one time to describe some Einstein equation, they had to call in typesetters from the New York Times because they were the only one familiar with enough alphabets to print the thing. I don't think I'd count on the Gray Lady at this stage, but surely there's someone--probably at Microsoft.

Zenobia and the Wooden Horse, Zenobia and the Never Ending Story, Zenobia at Marathon, Zenobia and Achilles, Zenobia's Revenge (not to be confused with Revenge of Zenobia, the straight to DVD remake), Zenobia in Chains, Zenobia goes Quantity Surveying, Carry on Zenobia, ZENOBIA!, Confessions of Zenobia, I was a Teenage Zenobia. Zenobia Rides Again…

Yeah, I think you're on to something Robert.

Zenobia, Princess of Thieves. Zenobia, Warrior Princess, Zenobia the Liberator, Zenobia's Triumph, Zenobia's Foreign Legion…

If only I'd kept more of the 70's Conan ripoffs. Or remembered more Scarlet Pimpernel titles. We could auction this thing off to hack writers, you know. Or even not so hack. I'm still burned at the Poul Anderson "Conan" book--much more than at the de Camp atrocities, because Anderson was a real writer and should have known better.

On a side note….I never realized there were this many books in this genre.
