Other: everything. Painting is a necessary evil and a chore. I can't afford to pay someone else to do it, so I have to do it myself, but I rarely enjoy it. |

I'm with MadDrMark … painting is for figures not domestic maintenance. I ticked second rate figures as my one regret as a wargamer is all the time I lavished as a youngster on the best I could afford (which wasn't always the best available) .. These days I realise life is too short – time is too precious – to waste on painting sub-standard figures: buy quality, enjoy lavishing all the time it takes to prepare them as you want them (which shouldn't be that long) and the figures will pay you back over a long service life. I see "the last figure" is an option. No true, red-blooded wargamer ever gets close to the last figure. |

My greatest mini painting pain is not any specific item or a color scheme or a type of figure (tho I most dislike doing any Napoleonic type, including Texas Revolution Mexicans); the part of the process that I greatly resent is "touching up". It's always necessary no matter how diligently I aim at "staying within the lines". Alas, after clear-coating I always find a few missed errors. |

Freehanding--mine usually comes out dreadful. I greatly admire those who can paint tattoos on their figures or prints/embroidery on the clothing. Grelber |
