I read the book. (You remember books: like rules except mostly shorter and in one volume?) Does reading the book count? |

Saw episode 1. Would like to see more. I think it deviates further from the book as the story expands. The book is superb. Maybe my favourite Phillip K Dick. Heck, no maybe about it. |

I remember the book being a big disappointment. Maybe I should give it another chance? |

Have not read the book, but enjoyed the series while painting. The second season came together well, and was a bit better than the first, in my own opinion. |

I saw the first episode and it failed to hook me. |

I'm with Cyrus, it failed to grab my imagination in the early episodes and now I've moved on |

I liked the book a lot but it took me a re-read to really appreciate it That being said I have not seen the series yet |

I assume the exclamation point on "never!" has some significance. Since I don't know what MitHC is, I went ahead and selected never. |

The book is great but I haven't seen the series as it is on a non-acceptable channel. Too bad as I like Rufus Sewell. |

It's on the list of stuff I'd like to watch. |

Strangely a simple No is not an option – how strange. |

I remember the book being a big disappointment. Maybe I should give it another chance? I'd read a lot of PK Dick by the time I finally came to read the man in the high castle. I'd heard about it of course, actually knew it existed for at least 30 years before I finally bought a copy. It has such a reputation that I was expecting to be disappointed in it. I don't want to say anything about the plot other than we "all" know it's an alternate-history. I know it's way beyond spoiler territory – but I wouldn't want to be the one to undermine its effect for anyone still thinking of reading it. It is, without a doubt, one of the finest books I have ever read. The language is so perfect, the concepts, the driving force of the story. There have been very few books that have left me stunned – this is one. I couldn't see how Dick was going to resolve it, I expected any resolution to be a disappointment. It was a revelation – and it was so well handled. I'm glad I read it before the series appeared as – from the single episode I saw – I think it is well within Dick's world, looks to be well acted and scripted, but it will have surely drifted a long way from the core of the story in a very few episodes. |

Read the book years ago. Saw the whole first season and was impressed. Looking forward to the second season. |

As is well known,Dick plotted the book using the I Ching. The weirdly abrupt (or is it "abruptly weird"?) ending that was so unsatisfactory for many readers was explained by him in a 1976 interview. Fortunately,it's on line now,so I didn't have to dig through my mouldering stack of SF Reviews. Here,if you want to read: link |
